ACTIVE WORK IN THE OPOTIKI DISTRICT NEW BRANCHES FORMED .‘liss Spencer. chief organiser of women's institutes in New Zculund. accompanied by Airs. Absalom, president of the Opotiki “'omen's Institute, has been busily engaged during the week organising new branches of the institute throughout the Opotiki district. There was a. very large and representative gathering at VVaiomhi. where it was unanimously resolved to form an institute, to be known as the V'Vaiotahi and Nukuhou W'omen's Institute. A strong committee was formed with Mrs. Toone as president and Airs. Frank Looney as secretary.

A big gathering was also addressed at Waimana, where it was also decided to form a branch of the institute. A committee of ten was elected with Airs. Wilde as president, and Airs. Norman Clark as secretary. A small preliminary meeting was also held at Whakatane. It was decided to hold another meeting next month, when the question of forming a branch at Whakatane will be discussed.
