DESERT TRAGEDY

SEVEN MOTORISTS DIE OF THIRST BENEATH SCORCHING SUN (United Service) Reed. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, Friday. A San Francisco message states that a tragedy of thirst was revealed as searchers followed the zigzag trail of footprints in the Californian Desert, near Niland, until they came upon the bodies of six people sprawled face downward in the sand. These people had been passengers in a motor-car which had been found by the search party. Under the car itself was the body of the seventh passenger. He had crawled under the vehicle to seek relief from the burning temperature of 105 degrees.
