LONELY DEATH IN IN FLOOD
OLD MAN’S TRAGIC END TOO FEEBLE T 0 ESCAPE (Spccial to THE SUN) OAMARU, Monday. Trapped in hls but on the banks Of the Kakanul River by flood Waters during the storm last Week, Mr. William George Copley. afled 70. met a lonely death. His b°dy was found by a neighbour a Week later. Mr. Copley was 3 familiar figure at Maheno. a. village about nine miles from Oamaru. He was seen there on July 15. and later making his way home. Apparently he was too feeble to escape when the river, swollen to a rushing torrent by melting snow in the hills, swept over its banks and c0"!“in the adjacent low-lying land. Silt had left its mark high on the Wadhpt his bedroom.
