ALAN WILKIE COMPANY
NEW THEATRICAL DEPARTURE Air. Allan Wilkie returns to Auckland for a brief season of 10 nights at His Alajesty's Theatre, commencing on Saturday, July 20, with an entirely new repertoire of three costume comedies, “She Stoops to Conquer,” “The School for Scandal,” and “The Rivals.” These plays, although they have not been staged in the Dominion for over a decade, are admittedly the three finest comedies in the English language. They have held the stage with unimapired popularity for 150 years and are still being played in every civilised country in the world. Before the fire which occurred at Geelong a few years ago, when Air. Wilkie had all his wardrobe and scenery destroyed, he had incorporated these pieces in his repertoire, but so long and laborious has been the task of restoring his effects on the same basis as prior to the fire, that only now has he been able once more to place these three delightful comedies in his organisation. A notable feature of the season will be the low prices of admission, a policy which Air. Wilkie has adopted with the greatest success in the other centres and one which will undoubtedly find similar favour in Auckland. Bex plans at Lewis Eady. Ltd., open next Wednesday.
