BOTH SHIPS TO BLAME
COLLISION IN NORTH SEA INVESTIGATED COURT NOT DECEIVED (United Service) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The Admiralty Court has pronounced that both vessels were equally blameworthy, in an action brought to determine liability for the collision between the Japanese ship Kitano Maru and the Orient liner Otranto in the North Sea in August last. Both vessels had taken the wrong helm, and both failed to take timely engine action. The judge described the evidence of the Kitano Maru witnesses as a concoction to deceive the court.
