SOCIAL EVENING

RAISING FUNDS FOR CITY j MISSION ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME On Wednesday evening a successful social was arranged in St. Matthews Hall in aid of the funds of the City, Mission. An enjoyable programme of concert items was provided by the following artists, and had been arranged by Mrs. Betliune: Misses Strange (songs), Mr. Peckham (saxaphone solo), and Miss Lorraine Cun- j ningham, a pupil of Miss Gwenetli j McXaughton, who gave Scotch dances, j accompanied on the bagpipes by Mr. j McCoombe. Among those present were: Mrs. Bethune, who wore a black em- j bossed satin gown relieved with a cerise j flower. Miss M. Bethune, white crepe de chine and crimson flower. Mrs. J. J. S. Hunt, navy blue pleated skirt and floral bridge coat. Miss Mandeno, orange silk crepe and cream lace. Mrs. M. D. Strange, black satin and georgette and black Spanish shawl. Miss May Judd, ciel blue frock and lace overdress. Miss Edythe Meeks, pale blue velour \ with black shawl. Mrs. Calder. pale green georgette with black ring velvet wrap. Mrs. A. Robinson, cherry red velvet frock. Miss A Handcock, midnight blue ■ panne velvet, with shawl to tone. Miss L. Bonner, cream taffeta with i velvet and rosebud trimming. Mrs. A. Gaughan, navy blue frock of crepo de chine. Miss J. Davenport, flame shot taffeta. Miss R. Lees, red georgette with figured bodice and shoulder spray. Mrs. E. C. Baker, red silk marocain frock. Miss J. Lees, mauve crepe de chine with pink lace and shoulder spray. Miss B. Jennens, pale green crepe de chine with gold lace. BRIDGE PARTY VICTORIA LEAGUE GIRLS Yesterday afternoon the Girls’ ! Branch of the Victoria League held ! its monthly bridge party at the Evelyn Firth Home for Returned Soldiers, j Prizes were won by Mr. Gordon and Mr. Skilley. Among the players were Miss TV. Kent (convener). Misses K. and D. Thompson. Miss R. Coleman, j Miss Stevenson. Misses Saunders (2). ! and Miss Cox.
