NOBLE’S BITING ATTACK ON CRICKET BOARD “FIGHT FOR THE ASHES” (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Thursday. A biting criticism of the Board of Cricket Control is an outstanding feature of Mr. M. A. Noble's book. “The Fight for the Ashes,” which is published today. The author says: “Unless the powers that be show more imagination Ilian they have done in recent years, I see no prospect of escaping the pit into which they have drifted through sheer pig-headedness. We neglected the opportunities to encourage youth. The result is that we were never so weak in all departments of the game. “We muddled through badly. We have been up against a stonewall in the board, which is as barren of perspicacity as it is incapable of fostering the interests of the game. “Men of experience were never consulted. They might be pirates, burglars, or bushrangers, for all the authorities care.” Mr. Noble says he thinks the , Australian XI., with the addition of colts, including two spin bowlers, if j they are discoverable, would make «*• good fight in 1930.
