It was reported to the executive that assistance costing £3.525 0s lid had been granted since last meeting by the Claims Board to 1,082 applicants. Applications declined or referred to Southern patriotic societies numbered 520, the total number of requests for assistance being 1,602. In accordance with the decision of the executive at its last meeting, no applications were received from fit returned soldiers. “The board is continuing its policy of assisting soldiers who are not receiving a war pension.” said the report. Six of 10 applications for assistance wore granted by the Permanently Disabled Soldiers’ Board. Since the board’s inception, 536 men have been voted assistance amounting to £107,973 14s 6d.
