LIBRARY GRANTS
NO FURTHER HELP FROM CARNEGIE TRUST RESOURCES LIMITED Apart from the gift, of American books on education and psychology, public libraries in Australia and New Zealand will not receive assistance from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Similarly, assistance is not available from the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust, as its powers do not extend to the Dominions. This information has been received at the Auckland Central library from Mr. E. J. Bell, of the Canterbury Public Library, who has received a letter from the New Y’ork Corporation stating that a programme for Australia and New Zealand bad been worked out. Limited resources made It impossible to give assistance for establishing public libraries, or for developing stocks of books for libraries other than those in educational institutions.
