WATER FOR ROSKILL
INCREASE OF CHARGES The Mount Roskill Road District is now drawing its water supply from the Onehunga Borough Council at lOd a 1.000 gallons from the Auckland City Council at Is, and from the Mount Eden Borough Council at Is 3d. The total quantities drawn from the three sources during the past financial year were 17,616,000 gallons. 20,400,000 gallons. and 19,135,000 gallons respectively. The Citv Council has decided upon an increase from Is to Is 3d. and Mount Eden has now given notice of an increase from Is 3d to Is 6d. The latter increase will entail an extra cost to the road board of £224 a year if the same quantity as last year is obtained. * The chairman submitted to the Board the question of what means could be adopted to avoid passing on the extra cost to the ratepayers at the road boai d meeting last evening. The matter -was considered in committee.
