ALL SCHOOLMASTERS

LEWIS SHAW'S FAMILY engaging young juvenile Father—a schoolmaster. Taught by uncle—a schoolmaster. Three other uncles—all schoolmasters. "JUO wonder Lewis Shaw is playing in “Young Woodley,” which concerns schools and a schoolmaster. Shaw, who is a most engaging young man of 18 years, is the youngest juvenile lead ever to tour Australia and New Zealand. He is the only member of his family to take up a stage career, which he adopted, quite by accident, at the age of 12. “X just walked into it,” he remarked to a Sun representative during a chat on the Ulimaroa. “ I went down to the Haymarket Theatre one day to watch a pal of mine rehearsing his part. The manager spotted me, asked me if I would like to play and I said ‘Yes.’ That was when I was 12. Acting did not interfere with my schooling but I had to get special permission to play at matinees.” Shaw, who takes the part of “Young Woodley,” has had an astonishingly interesting stage career, despite his youth. He has appeared in 30 different plays in London, he has done a considerable amount of film work in France, and spoken in plays broadcast from a London studio. And now he is touring the world, playing the part of his life, he says, and enjoying it immensely. Success has not turned this young man's head, despite all the flattering things which have been said about him since he first appeared in "Young Woodley.”
