“BE PREPARED,” URGES MR. A. E. DAVEY HAMILTON FUNCTION "We must always be ready for the unforseen, and though I do not anticipate an early election, I shall see to it that we are prepared for any contingency. The party is doing great work, and it must be borne in mind that it is the efforts of the organisation that are mainly responsible for the maintaining of that party in its position.” rpHOSE were remarks made by Mr. A. E. Davy, Dominion chairman of the United Party organisation, who was the guest of honour at a dinner given by the Hamilton branch of the organisation. Among many others present were: Mr. F. Lye, M.P. for Waikato; Mr. S. Lye, Mr. J. R. Fow, Mayor of Hamilton; and Mr. H. A. C. Davy, Auckland divisional secretary. Speaking to the branch after dinner, Mr. F. Lye eulogised the work of Mr. Davy. “It is due to his great work that we are here tonight,” he said, “and with Mr. Davy at the head I feel confident as to the success of the organisation in the future.” In reply, Mr. Davy strongly advised the branch to work as strenuously as just before the election. “The organisation scheme as set out by the Dominion executive,” is undoubt edly the finest and most complete that New Zealand has ever seen,” he said. “This, combined with the calibre of candidates that we have selected, and will always be careful to select, should go a very long way indeed to ensure the success of the party at the polls. “I want to pay a tribute to the sterling qualities of the members of the United Parliamentary Party. We pride ourselves in having a team wuthout a tail, and I want to see that excellent standard maintained by the efforts of the organisation.”
