MINISTER VISITS SCHOOLS

MR. ATMORE TOURS NORTH AUCKLAND ADDRESSES TO CHILDREN (From Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. The Minister of Education, the Hon H. Atmore, and party, spent this morning in Dargaville receiving deputations and visiting the schools in the district. The Minister displayed a keen desire to see and address as many school children as was possible in the time at his disposal. Visits were paid to the Dargaville District High School, secondary, primary and infant departments, St. Joseph’s Convent School, and the Te Kopuru and Aratapu Schools. He addressed school committee members, teachers and children at each place. To a deputation at Dargaville Mr. Atmore said that, under the present financial conditions, he could not see his way to recommend the addition of another classroom to the school. He added that the matter of district high schools such as Dargaville’s receiving additional capitation grants would receive consideration. After lunch the Minister left for Whangarei. WHANGAREI VISITED /From Our Oxen Corespondent) WHANGAREI, Today. The Hon. H. Atmore. Minister of Education, arrived in "Whangarei yesterday. He visited the High School and received a deputation from the committee regarding requirements. He promised consideration of the request made. Mt Atmore visited Portland this morning and opened the AN'liau Valley School this afternoon.
