GRAND AND LYRIC
“KITTY” “Kitty,” the film version of the novel by Warwick Deeping, who also wrote “Sorrell and Son.” is the principal feature now showing at the Grand and Lyric Theatres. Estelle Brody, John Stuart, Dorothy Cumming and Marie Ault have the leading roles. The story concerns a young officer of the Royal Air Force, Alex. St. James, who falls in love with and secretly marries a beautiful girl of humble origin. Mrs. St. James writes to her son. telling him that Kitty has proved unfaithful, and Alex, receives the letter just before setting out on an adventurous flight. He loses control, and the plane crashes, severely injuring him. He is sent to England to recover, and Mrs. St. James prevents the young couple from corresponding, until an unexpected ally is found. “New Year’s Eve.” the second feature. is a story of ultra-modem New York youth, starring Mary Astor.
