PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT ARDMORE GOOD DAY’S SPORT The meet of the Pakuranga Hunt was held at the Ardmore Hall yesterday, where a sumptuous hunt breakfast was awaiting the arrival of hunt members. Considering the unfavourable weather conditions prevailing. there was a large field, and some very enjoyable runs took place. The hounds were thrown off in Mr. O'Hara's property, and after working along the edge of a stream for a short distance, a hare was put up. It led the way straight into Burnside’s Bush. After being worked out it circled round Messrs. Mullin’s and Bell's farms, and
was eventually killed on the fringe ot a clump of bush on the latter property. A move was then made to Mr. Mullin’s farm, and after a short draw another quarry was raised. With the pack in full cry it crossed the road into Mr. McCullough’s, and circled through barred country. It eventually crossed the Clevedon Road and was killed on the edge of the road. The next draw was made on Mr. McCullough’s farm, and a good strong hare was soon raised. It led the field for a long run. Crossing Messrs. McCullough’s and McDonald’s, it circled back across the road into Mr. Mullin s property, when a very heavy shower fell which spoiled the and the quarry escaped. The field then worked its way back to the hall, where afternoon tea was served. ... Mr. Bullock-Webster. master of the hunt, thanked the residents for the refreshments and also extended the thanks of the followers to the landowners for allowing the hunt to take place on their property. Among the followers were visitors •from Christchurch and South Canterbury. -
