COST OF LIBERTY
PRISONER WHO ESCAPED Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Oswald Harris, aged 25, who escaped from the Wi Tako Prison on the morning of May 22. and who was convicted of a similar charge in 1919, was given two years’ imprisonment with hard labour by Mr. E. Page. S.M., at Wellington, to be served at the end of his present term. Mr. Page remarked that prisoners were given privileges on farms that they did not get in some countries, and if they endeavoured to escape the court must view the offence as a grave crime.
