WOLF CUBS HONOURED
DEVONPORT SCOUTS PRAISED The Devonport Scout eyrie, perched on the summit of Mount Victoria, was visited last evening by District Scoutmaster Boswell, who presented the Devonport Wolf Cubs with the Stone Memorial Shield for supremacy in athletics at the annual gathering at St. Heliers in November last. The scoutmaster was met at the wharf by Dr. Pope, secretary to the Devonport Scout Troop Committee, and other officials of the troop, and after negotiating the hill was received by a guard of honour, which performed a Scout haka. After inspecting the cubs’ parade, he congratulated the pack and apologised for the absence of Scout Commissioner worth and Assistant-Cub Commissioner Veart, who were unable to attend. Mr. Boswell explained that the shield was originally gifted the St. Peter’s troop at Onehur gain memory of a member.
Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonport, on behalf of the Cub Pack, presented a gold watch to the former pack master, Mr. Beresford, who is leaving Devonport.
