ENTERTAINS FRIENDS 4 . i; i FOSTERING GOODWILL The Lewis Eady Hall was attractively aecorated last evening, when the 2uth (Light) Battery, N.A.A., held ixs nrsx social and dance and presentation ot trophies. Major H. P. Warnock, commanding the battery, presided, and welcomed the j guests. Lieut.-Coi. K. G. Milligan, : u.fcj.O., Y.-L)., commanding Coast Group I Artillery, and Mrs. Milligan, were presI ent; also Major Miles, Artillery Staff ; Orncer, and Captain Curry, late oattery ! commander. Trophies for the year were presented !by Colonel Milligan, and a special tropny in connection with certain hap- | pollings in the battery in IU-G was {presented to ex-Bombardier Walsh, who j responded in a brief, pithy speech. The trophies were presented as follow: Best sub-section. A sub., Sgt. Pickett; most improved N.C.0., iSgt. ; Curson; most improved signaller. Bar. Young; best driver, Dvr. Carter; best layer. Bar. Ollerenshaw; Kohn Cup, presented by Messrs. A. Kohn, Ltd., tor best all-round gunner, Gnr. Mettam; sports, 100yds, cigarette case, Dvr. Carter; 1 mile, sleeve links, Bar. Miller. In a brief address Colonel Milligan stressed tho necessity for a happy feeling in tho battery throughout its training, and by means of social functions, such as last evening’s, it was hoped to foster this spirit. K.S.M. Fieldsend supported the colonel in his remarks. After supper had been served the hall was cleared and dancing was enjoyed till a late hour. Items were given by Mr. A. McElwain and the N.Z. Mrs. E. Iv. Bezar, in a frock of orchid mauve and silver georgette. Miss G. M. Pickett, in black chiffon velvet with rose and silver motifs. Miss Iv. Morris, who chose apple green georgette and diamante. Miss A. Currie, in an ivory taffeta and georgette frock. Mrs. Laurie Burnip, in a black frock of panne velvet. I Miss E. Munro, wearing a flame chiffon j velvet frock. j Mrs. W. Wheaton, in black crepe de | chine with oriental trimmings. PINK GEORGETTE Miss M. Seymour, who wore pink georgette with satin panels. Miss M. Emmott, wearing black satin relieved with a green spray. Miss M. Hamilton, in a hyacinth blue taffeta frock. Miss R. Franklin, wearing flame georgette with an uneven hemline, and a black panne velvet cloak. Miss F. Frick, rose pink crepe de chine with spray of flowers. Miss F. McGregor, in a silver tissue and lace frock. Miss X. Taylor, in a navy blue crepe de chine frock. Mrs. L. Stackhouse, wearing a flame lace frock over georgette. Mrs. C. Keanv, who wore black tafieta relieved with floral spray. Miss Rua McGregor, black ring velvet relieved with a posy. Miss V. G. Penny, in silver lame with white crepe de chine, uneven hem and silver medallions. Mrs. J. A. Simeon, in champagne, crepe de chine and lace overskirt.
