STRAND
“IN OLD ARIZONA” -In Old Arizona,” the main attraction at the Strancl Theatre, is an alltalkie film. The producers of Fox Movietone films have learnt how to blend sound. conversation. laughter and music to produce dramatic effect. A braying donkey for instance, furnishes a novel obbligato to vital conversation, and clattering hoofs, cracking whips and rattling vehicles combine in a symphony that pleases the eve and the ear. An outstanding performance is given by Warner Baxter as the singing, laughing “Cisco Ivid.” a fascinating and gallant bandit. The leading feminine role is played bv Dorothy Burgess, who comes to the screen from the stage, and brings an excellent voice and a film personality that promise much. Edmund Lowe is seen as a . sergeant. The story is based on the O. Henry story. -A Caballero’s Way,” and it tells how a lady - loving sergeant and two soldiers are sent into a. section of the I west frontier to “get” a bandit who ! is terrorising the countryside.
