TWO STOCK SALES
PROVINCIAL OFFERINGS MARKET SHOWS GOOD TONE Average yardings of beef are coming forward at stock sales in the Auckland Province at the present time. At Hamilton yesterday afternoon, competition was keen for most of the offerings. The sheep pens were well stocked and there were large yardings of store and fat pigs. Dalgety and Company’s report says that the quality of beef wds moderate. Prime young cows and heifers made to £9. Aged fat cows, £6 10s to £7 7s 6d; light fat cows, £4 17s 6d to £6 2s 6d; runners up to £3 ss.
Sales in store cattle were 16 forward 4-year bullocks at £ 9 12s 6d; 20 weaner Hereford steers, at £5 10s; 20 ditto at £4 10s; 17 mixed coloured steers at £4 2s; 8 Shorthorn weaner steers at £3 10s; and a boner bull at £5.
Practically all of 1,972 sheep were sold as under;—l2l mixed aged ewes, in lamb, 30s Gd; 47 4-year-old ewes, in lamb to Southdown rams, 28s; 253 mixed aged ewes, in lamb to Southdown rams, 31s 6d; 222 4 and 5-year ewes, 'in lamb to Southdown rams, 30s; 88 4 and 5-year ewes, in lamb to Romney rams, 30s; 76 mixed sex black-faced woolly lambs, 255; 219 shorn white-faced wether lambs, 23s 6d; 164 woolly white-faced wether lambs, 24s Gd: 165 woolly white-faced ewe lambs, 37s 6d: 73 small two-tooth wethers, 265; 54 heavy fat ewes, 29s Sd; heavy fat shorn lambs, 275; 32 fat ewes, 2Ss.
Pig prices were;—Prime baconers, £4 to £4 8s; medium ditto, £3 8s to £3 16s; porkers, £ 2 4s to £2 10s; light ditto, £1 15s to £1 18s; choppers, £2 15s to £3 ss: best stores, £1 to £1 8s; slips. 10s to 15s; weaners, 10s to 12s; others, 6s to Bs.
