HARD BOXING CONTEST
SOUTHERN TOURNAMENT Press Association INVERCARGILL. Monday. The Southland Boxing Asssociation staged a successful amateur tournament this evening in the presence of a. large audience. Among the visiting contingent from Dunedin, Hood and A. Lowe, in the lightweight class, were successful, blit B. Davis (middle-weight) was defeated. Invercargill boxers who won were C. Gault (middle-weight) and M. Burke (lightweight). A. Campbell (Oamaru), the present New Zealand amateur champion heavyweight. had a great fight with G. Spencer (Greenhills), the verdict going to the champion by a fair margin of points. The bout was considered one of the best heavy-weight contests seen here for some time.
