Banks Selling Freely
CONSIDERABLE activity is being registered on the Stock Exchange and a large volume of business is being transacted. All bank shares are receiving attention and intending investors are closely watching this section.

Business at to-day’s mid-day call— Reported: Pukemiro Collieries, £3 2s; X.Z. Breweries, £3 Ss 6d; Booth, Macdonald (ord.). Is 3d; Occidental Una United (2s paid), s«d. Mining shares are again quiet with the exception of Waihis and Mount JLyeUs. There is keen bidding for all woollen
! shares, and prices are well maintained, • few sellers appearing. • * * Insurance shares remain steady; few i transactions are being recorded in this section. New Zealand are selling at 475. Shipping shares are steady. Hud-dart-Parker both issues are asked for. Northern Steam paid are selling freely at 14s, while Union have keen buyers at 20s 9d, no shares offering. Coal shares are attracting more attention, Grey Valley remain firm, sales this morning at 235. Pukemiro are quietly firming. Renown pref. have many eager buyers at 2s lid. Taupiri both issues are in demand, few shares offering. Waipa are asked for at 11s , 3d, but fail to attract sellers.
