NO PERMIT SECURED FINE OF £l2 10 - IMPOSED Carrying on business as a land agent i without being licensed to do so re- ! suited in John Stewart Richards being fined £l2 10s at the Police Court 1 this morning. After Mr. G. Bennett had entered a plea of guilty, Chief-Detective Ham- • mond said that Richards had com- ! mitted a breach of section 31 of the | Land Agents’ Act, 1921 and 1922, for which the maximum penalty was £SO. The firm had since gone into liquida- ; tion, but had carried on lor some ; time without a licence. According to counsel it had been Richards’s intention to get a licence ; after the first deal had been pm through.
