“CUFF AND COLLAR" MEN
RAILWAY SHAREHOLDERS HELD BY SOVIET SOME TO BE EXECUTED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) RIGA, Monday. Following upon the execution of three railway experts last week 29 shareholders in the Russian railways have now been arrested. They have been described as “cuff and collqr” men. Defendants are charged with having dismantled locomotives and sold them as scrap iron. Furthermore, it is stated that, as members of the Board of Administration, they had drafted a plan to introduce large locomotives, which would necessitate the rebuilding of all the bridges on the railways. It has been decided to shoot five of the accused, and to imprison the remainder.
