MINISTER OF RAILWAYS
VISIT TO DARGAVILLE INSPECTION OF FORESTS (From Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Sunday. The Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Railways, arrived in Dargaville at about 5.30 last evening, accompanied by Mrs. Taverner and members of his family, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, M.P. for Kaipara, and party. They were met on arrival by the Mayor of Dargaville, Mr. F. A. Jones, members of the Dargaville Borough Council, Hobson County Council, Dargaville Chamber of Commerce and other bodies. The Minister and party were entertained at dinner at the Northern Wairoa Hotel, where the Mayor acted as host. Mr. Wordsworth represented the Hobson County Council in the absence of Mr. V. Trounson, who was in Auckland to attend the funeral of his father.
This morning the party left for Waipoua Forest and Trounson Kauri Park, where a tour of inspection is being made. It will spend this evening in Dargaville and leave for Whangarei tomorrow morning. It is understood that Mr. Coates will remain in Dargaville tomorrow.
