IN STRANGE HOUSE
DRUNKEN MAN FOUND IN BED STARTLED WOMAN Weary and dazed with drink, John Braslin was pleased to crawl into bed on Saturday evening. So pleased was he that the fact that he was in someone else’s bed in a strange house entirely escaped his notice. 'J'HE surprise of the mistress of the house, who found her uninvited guest comfortably ensconced in an upstair bedroom, can be imagined, and Braslin spent the rest of the night on a much less comfortable bed in a cell at the Police Station. Braslin, a labourer, aged 40, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to being found on enclosed premises in Park Road. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, Braslin was very much under the influence of liauor and there was no suggestion of any malicious intent. “Braslin, who was stupid through the effect of drink, had wandered up the stairs in what was a strange house to him and went to bed, where he was discovered later by the lady of the house,” added the sub-inspector. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: She must have got a nasty shock. The Sub-Inspector: Imagine the state of the woman if he had got up in the middle of the night and started to wander about. “Yes, we must stop that sort of thing,” commented the magistrate, and fined Braslin £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment.
