POPULAR FOREMAN

PRESENTATION TO MR. C. CRAIG I A large number of employees of the Auckland City Council engineers’ department assembled at the TownHall at 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to one of their fellow workmen, Mr. C. J. Craig, foreman of the southern ward. Mr. Craig is retiring on superannuation. The acting-city engineer, Mr. Tyler,, in referring to Mr. Craig’s services as district foreman covering a period of over IS years, eulogised his sterling qualities, and wished him health and happiness in his retirement. Mr. D. Lawson, Mr. Craig's successor, also spoke of Mr. Craig’s popularity among his fellow workers. Mr. Tyler then made the presentation which consisted of a beautiful clock, suitably inscribed, a case of pipes and a rug each for Mr. and Mrs. Craig.
