They should ”» difficulty in qualifying for Hunt club events to be run later in the season. Mr. J Irwin, of Paeroa, has taken a lease of Waltzer, Who is to be put to hurdling. By Hymettus from Miss Amans, by St. Amans, Waltzer has jumping strains on both sides, so ma.y prove a payable proposition. Glenstar is again among the track workers. He is none the worse for his respite from work and will be in tiptop form when again required to race. The Te Aroha Jockey Club seems determined to have appointments ' in keeping with the times, and continues to devote any profits to improvements. As the property is a racing reserve for a.ll time, the club is seldom under a debit balance. The club’s engineer is at present engaged in laying off training tracks in keeping with the halfmile extension of the course proper. A. E. Cox has The Lamb jumping very well, and he will soon be ready to carry the silk over the obstacles. There is no reason why he should not make good in the new role, for he can carry weight and gallop fast. Flitter, who is privately trained by her owner, Mr. J. Hanks, at Shaftesbury. was brought over to the local course on Thursday. He sprinted five furlorigs with Marble King, the latter finishing with a slight lead. A much improved colt is Mr. . W. Dunn’s William of Orange, full brother to Prince of Orange, a winner last month at the Waikato meeting. Under J. H. Wallace’s care he has furnished splendidly. .He is galloping in good style, and next season should be among the winners. Track work was done under good conditions on Thursday. Belle Star and Lucky Alice went two rounds of the plough at better than half pane, and Mascot went freely over a round. King Lu and Lucy Hose ran half a mile at a smart bat, the latter showing most speed at the end. Black Maire stepped over three furlongs in 42, and Glenstar trotted a couple of rounds. Queen Arch put in over a mile at better than half pace and was anxious to go faster. Marble King accounted for Flitter over five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. Sir Russell was under a pull in a good working gallop once round.
