KAIKOHE CYCLE CLUB

(From Our Own Correspondent) KAIKOHE, Wednesday. The Kaikohe Cycling Club held its initial run for trophies today. The committee has been fortunate in being presented by its patron, Mr. A. Admore, with a silver cup for a points’ prize for the season’s runs for the seniors. A medal lias been allotted as a junior points’ prize. Mr. F. King presented the first prize for the senior's race. The distance was about six and a-quarter miles along the Mangakahia Road to the Ngapuhi Station access road and back. The weather was fine, with a southerly breeze in the faces of the riders on the outward journey. The times were good considering that the riders had to contend with about half a mile of newlv-spread shingle, with which the road is being surfaced. Keen interest is being taken in the club bv the general public, there being about 100 spectators at the finishing point. Results: Seniors.—W. Hynson (sm), 1; W. I. Haines (sm), 2; T. Jordan (3m 15s), 3. Also started: L. Roberts, W. Nepia (scr) 9- H- Eisenhert (3m 20s), H. Jackson (<>m i?0s), G. Bell, C. Hoka. A. Hui and J. Pera (4m 20s). with O. D. Hows (sm). Time, 23m; second man. 20s behind. Fastest time was put up by the scratch rider, L. Roberts, in 21m 225: T. Jordan second fastest, 22s 40s. Juniors.—D. C. Mac Lean (scr), 1: r Goodhue (lm 255). 2: S. Bell (lm 255), 3. D. Mac Lean (lm 255) was the only other starter to complete. Winner made fastest time, 22m 10s; second fastest time, C. Goodhue, 23s 55 3-ss.
