CHILDREN DEFECTIVES

MENTAL HOSPITAL PLANS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The first step in planning the construction of hospitals needed for the treatment of children under the Mental Defectives Act last year will be taken next week, when the members of the Mental Defectives Board will visit Christchurch. Board members make this trip in order to inspect the departmentallyowned site of Hornby, a few miles from ChrisTchurch, which it is pro- i posed shall be converted for the lions-, ing of the children listed for treatment. Hornby, at present, is run for the better class of patients and is pleasingly situated in spacious grounds, one of the factors which led to its being suggested as an institution for the board.
