MANUKAU COUNTY
The Manukau County Council, at a meeting yesterday, received an olC** to provide £I,OOO, or if neceesei} £1,250, toward the estimated cost oi reconstructing an access road from Puketutu Island in the Manukau Harbour to the mainland from the owner Mrs. K. L. Bull. The writer suggested that the council might make application for an unemployment relief grant, as the to.* cost was estimated to be about and her contribution would be s VvT cient to gain the necessary subsidy The council was favourable to the position, as, provided the money irC& the Government was forthcomingcouncil would have only to provide to services of the engineer. It was cided that the engineer should get »* touch with the Public Works P e P?*' mc*t. and if the department is f a ' ourable the work w'ill be done. It was decided to contribute * ward the cost of materials for a ter for bus passengers near the Bl* Bridge, Mangere, the bus company • residents to contribute the remain ■ of the estimated cost of £25, labour be provided by the residents.
