£l,ooo HOARD
CASH FOUND IN ROOM OLD MAN’S LONELY DEATH RELATIVES UNTRACED A hoard of £I,OOO in cash has been found in the room of a lodging house in Hastings Parade, Devonport. The owner of the money, John Bartley, an old man, died suddenly a few days ago. As no relatives could be found, the police made arrangements for his burial. Later, his rooms were searched by the police and the Public Trustee, and then the cash was found. It has been ascertained that in addition to this money, Mr. Bartley held about £2,000 in cash and securities in commercial concerns.
It is said that lie told his landlady that he had a sister living in France.
