PROMINENT IN BUSINESS

AIR. IV. R. CO LB EC K. senior partner in the firm of Colbeck and Griffiths, sharebrokers, is one of the leaders in Auckland financial circles.

Born in Yorkshire , Air. Colbeck came to Neio Zealand as a lad. He commenced his studies at Nelson College and later in 'Wellington, finishing off at Cambridge (England), ichere he took his B.A. and LL.B. degrees. He teas called to the Bar at the Inner Temple. Returning to Neio Zealand, he practised as a barrister and solicitor for a number of years until about J 907, when he entered into partnership with Mr. E. Anderson as a sharebroker. He later acquired the business on his own account, and .in 1917 took Air. Griffiths into partnership. Today Mr. Colbeck’s advice is sought by a large and ever-growing clientele. He has his finger on the pulse of Neio Zealand finance, and an intimate knowledge of the financial standing of every worthwhile public company in Australia and New Zealand. His doctrine is "sound investments for satisfactory returns, against speculation and almost certain disappointment.” Air. Colbeck has served on the committee of the Auckland Stock Exchange for many years, occupying the position of chairman for tioo terms. At Cams College, Cambridge, he was prominent in all branches of sport, and rowed in the first boat for two years. Golf is his main fetish outside of business today.
