PARTIES SUBMIT PROPOSAL FOR INCREASES (Australian and N.Z. Press Associatio)i) BERLIN, Saturday. The People’s, Nationalist, and Farmers’ Parties in the Reichstag have submitted proposals to increase the tariffs on imported livestock, -meat and grain, the last-named by one mark a double cwt, except that from Australia and Canada, the duties on which it is proposed to increase by one mark and and a-half.

Victorian, abattoirs 5 Ad. mining news LUCKY SHOT.—The manager reports: The contractors have extended the low level crosscut 33 feet for the week, making a total of 67 feet. At 50 feet the main reef was intersected and at present shows a width of 17 Uet, and the hangingwall is not yet exposed. In the first five feet from the footwall several strong dabs and colours of gold were seen in the ore broken out, and from this point t<> the present face the ore is heavily mineralised, carrying a high percentage i of copper-pyrites and line blende.
