BATTERY TO DISBAND
OFFICERS’ AND MEN’S REGRET UNIT WITH GREAT RECORD (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Today. General concern is expressed by officers and men at the proposal to disestablish the 2nd Field Battery. This unit has attained a high standard of efficiency in the past, and has won many trophies. That the battery is the pride of the youth of Hamilton can be gathered by the fact that 99 per cent, of the cadets on transfer in the last postings applied for admission to the battery. With the passing of the battery the officers being volunteers will have the opportunity to transfer to other units or reserves. It is felt in both military and civic circles in the town that an effort should be made to retain this unit, whose war record is so distinguished. Strong representations will probably be made to induce the department to reverse the decision. The final parade will be on May 30 when the officers and men will be addressed by Colonel J. Duiigan.
