j The Alount Albert Grammar School j Hall was the scene of a brilliant funeI tion last evening when the old boys of ; the school held their fifth annual ball. The school colours, pale blue and gold, were used for the decorations. I Streamers of the two shades were ! looped from the walls to a massive lantern-shaped streamer covered frame in the centre of the ceiling. The lion rampant was in evidence on the banners of blue and gold in front of the stage, which was banked with potted shrubs and ferns. Bendali’s Orchestra provided all the latest and brightest dance music. Among those present were: Mrs. F. W. Gamble, gown of palest begonia georgette, with embroideries of silver beads. Airs. J. H. Kinnear. black chiffon frock with handsome black shawl/ embossed in canton jade. Mrs. W. Ward-Baker, cloth of gold gown with shaded hem of black chiffon. Airs. G. AY'. Aliss Ramage, lilac taffeta period gown with pastel shaded flowers appliqued to the full skirt. Aliss Hope, gown of gold lace over palest nasturtium crepe de chine. Miss R. Brewer, brocaded taffeta picture frock of pistache green.

TRINITY SOCIAL CLUB FANCY DRESS AT OTAHUHU There was a large gathering of members and friends of the Otahuhu Holy Trinity Social Club at the plain and fancy dress dance held in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Tuesday evening. The hall had been prettily decorated with greenery and streamers, and made a picturesque setting for the large gathering of quaintly-f rocked dancers. The club’s orchestra, under the leadership of ALrs.\ Andrew, provided a pleasing programme of dance music. Mr. H. Lovell fulfilled the duties of master of ceremonies. For the non-dancers a progressive “500” tournament was the centre of interest, and after a series of keenlycontested games, the winners were Mrs,, Burnett and Air. H. Whyte. The winners of the fancy dress competitions were: Aliss P. Walker, most original lady’s costume; Air. Cochrane, most original men’s costume; Aliss Greenwood. best lady’s fancy dress; Air. J. "Walker, best men’s fancy dress. Supper was served by members of the committee.
