CATHEDRAL SQUARE CASE JUDGMENT EXPLAINED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Au important statement concerning the effect of the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Cathedral Square case was made by Mr. D. E. Wanklyn, solicitor, for Mr. George Gould, the actual plaintiff in the action. Mr. Wanklyn stated that the mandatory order of the Court expressly excluded any reference to the existing underground conveniences and tramway tracks on the Godley Statue block reserve, which will not have to be removed. The decision of the Court makes it clear that the City Council cannot proceed with the scheme for the erection of new tramway shelters and new conveniences.
