HARD COURT TOURNAMENT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. I he first national junior hard-court championship tournament was commenced yesterday in the Winter Show buildings, where eight courts are available. The weather was atrociously bad, so that play on the association courts at Miramar, as originally intended, was quite out of the question. The tournament was officially opened by the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Troup. The first two rounds of the boys’ and girls’ singles were practically completed. The winners were: Boys’ Singles.—P. Childs (North Auckland), A.
