ANIMALS FARMED FOR SKINS NEW ZEALANDER’S TOUR Arcos House, the Russian trading concern in London, made famous when it was raided last year, is now operating in Leipzig. All the furs from Russia are controlled in this establishment, and now its activities are centred in Germany. Mr. L. H. Green, warehouse manager of the New Zealand Fur Trading Company, who has just completed a tour of the fur markets of the world, returned by the Ulimaroa from Sydney this morning. He brings a cheerful message to lii3 colleagues as he found that the worldwide outlook for fur trading is an exceptionally bright one. In the course of his tour, Mr. Green attended sales in many important centres, including London and romantic Hudson Bay which, he says, has changed but little since the old discovery days. “Production cannot cope with the demand today through natural channels,” he said, “and for that reason the Canadians are farming musquash and silver fox. This is proving highly successful and they are now experimenting with martens and mink." Mr. Green stated that notwithstand.ing the competition displayed in other countries. London was still the most important centre for furs in the world. The world headquarters of the Hudson Bay Company were still there. Russia still supplied the world with the greatest number of furs, al! of which were traded through Arc on House in Leipzig.
