In the county cricket competition, Surrey, in its first innings against Warwickshire made 308. Hobbs made 55, Fender 94, Shepherd not out 74. In its second innings, Surrey made 231 for nine wickets, and declared. (Fender, 53, and Paine, took six wickets for 79). Warwickshire, in its first innings, made 243 (Kilner 82, Wyatt 73). Allom took five wickets for 44. In its second innings, Warwickshire made 14S (Wyatt 61). Fender took five wickets for 38. Surrey won by 148 runs. Sussex, in its first innings, against Gloucester, made 380 (Bowley 78). Sinfield took seven wickets for 98. In its second innings, Sussex made 410 for two wickets, and declared (Bowley not out 280, Parks 110). Gloucester, in its first innings, made 134. Tate took five wickets for 52, and Parks four for 30. In its second innings, Gloucester made 182 (Dipper 83). Bowley took six wickets for 31. Sussex won by 374 runs. Kent, in its first innings against Nottingham, made 255 (Hardinge 73). Larwood took four wickets for 68. Kent, in its second innings, made 135. Barratt took five wickets for 44. Nottingham, in its first innings, made 427 (Gunn 67, Carr 123, Lilley 64). Nottingham won by an innings and 37 runs.

Hampshire, in its first innings against Lancashire, made 120. R. Tyidesley took five wickets for 14, and Macdonald four for 46. In its second innings, Hampshire made 53. Hopwood took five wickets for 19. Lancashire, in its first innings, made 148. Kennedy took four wickets for 46, and Creese four for 46. In its second innings, Lancashire made 28 for one wicket. Lancashire won by nine wickets. Northants, in its first innings against Glamorgan, made 176, and in its second 165. Clay took five wickets for 17. Glamorgan, in its first innings, made 151, and in its second 87. Northants won by 103 runs. Leicester, in its first innings against Derby, made 174, and in its second 56 for two wickets. Derby, in its first innings, made 339 for nine wickets, and declared. Rain interfered with the play, and Derby won on the first innings. Essex in its first innings against Yorkshire made 195 (O’Connor 84). In its second innings it made 87. Rhodes took three wickets for 39. Yorkshire in its first innings made 299 for seven wickets and declared (Leyland 134). Yorkshire won by an innings and 17 runs. Worcester in its first innings against Somerset made 253 (Wright 99). White took four for 55. In its second innings Worcester made 81 for five. Somerset in its first innings made 108. Root took five wickets for 37 and Gilbert five for 42. Worcester won on the first innings. There was no play on the third day.
