SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA
ADDED REGULATIONS NOW RECOMMENDED LONDON CONFERENCE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Tuesday. The report of the international conference on safety of life at sea states that since the convention of 1914 inquirdies have established that a wide measure of agreement exists among the maritime nations regarding the following points in the regulations for preventing collisions, and the conference’s Committee On Navigation therefore recommends their adoption: Firstly, a compulsory, second white masthead light on steamers 150 ft. long and upwards: secondly, a compulsory special day signal for sailing vessels being towed into fog; fifthly, an additional international wireless telegraphy signal to the international signals of distress already prescribed.
