QUESTIONS FROM JURY
FOREMAN CROSS-EXAMINES Jury foremen do not usually display the degree of interest shown by the leader of the jury during the hearing of an .assault trial in the Supreme Court yesterday. Not content with facts obtained by counsel’s examination and cross-examination, the foreman obtained Mr. Justice Ilerdman’s consent to question the principal witness for the Crown, and for some minutes conducted a. cross-examination of a young woman on issues bearing importantly on the case. It was a course seldom adopted, the jury generally applying for clarification of obscure points through the J udge.
