In the Market Place
APPLES DEARER NEW BANANAS COMING Local apples and pears are in shorter supply in the City Marts and the tendency in sales during the past week has been toward increases in values. Bananas were off the market when the sales began today, but a new shipment is to be landed in Auckland this afternoon. A keen demand is expected by importers. Hothouse grapes continue to be in good demand and best Colmans have increased in price. More Sydney white grapes are expected today. Choice local and Hutt tomatoes are selling well. Island original oranges are not on the market now and the demand for Island repacks and Californian oranges remains firm. Sales of lemons have improved, but passions are easier in value. There is a poor demand for persimmons. Most lines of vegetables are in plentiful supply. Southern potatoes are meeting with a keener demand.
