The function was in the nature of «. welcome to the new vicar, the Rev. J. W. Burley, who was present. The bishop referred to the splendid work Mr. Skey had done in and around Taumarunui during the past year and emphasised that he had been able to minister more regularly to the people of the country districts then any of the past clergy. The w’ork 1.. had performed was worthy of notice and admiration, and he was the best priest in the diocese. The bishop stated that Mr. Skey was not being moved because of anything he had done, but he (the bishop; was moving him to another part of the diocese where only a priest without home ties could go. to a parish where one with Air.
