BIG RUGBY The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union this week decided to play this year’s inter-island match at Wellington at the end of the season, on a date not later than October 5, but after the interprovincial fixtures had been disposed of. The question of the trial match, which is at present set down for June 3 (King's Birthday), is to be considered at the annual meeting of the union next Thursday. Several of the North Island unions have protested, as the date clashes with special fixtures arranged by them some time back. The chairman of the New Zealand Management Committee, Mr. Dean, said that in view of the number of international fixtures coming along, it was imperative to send a team to New South Wales this season, and to send it early. Judging from the discussion, there does not appear to be much chance of the trial match being abandoned or of the date being altered. There is a chance, however, that the venue may be altered to suit the protesting unions.
