FATAL LAST FLIGHT
GERMAN AIRMAN’S LEAP TO DEATH PARACHUTE FAILED (Atistralian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. BERLIN, Monday. Making his last compulsory service flight prior to returning to civil life, Lieutenant Flin had engine trouble with his plane, which nose-spinned. He jumped clear, but his parachute failed, and he fell like a stone and was instantly killed.
THREE AIRMEN KILLED NEW AIRPLANE ON FIRE GIFT FROM ONE’S FATHER ( United Service) LOS ANGELES, Monday. A triple flying tragedy occurred at Los Angeles to-day. Flying for the first time in a new airplane, William Oviatt, Ray Scott and Mack Fluker crashed and were burned to death. All three men were connected with the stage or the moving pictures. Oviatt had just received the airplane from his father.
