LIPTON CUP RACE

YACHTING TO-MORROW PONSONBY CLUB’S EVENTS All Auckland .yachtsmen will be interested in the result of the Liptor: i Cup race to he staged by the Fonsonby Cruising Club to-morrow. This cup is competed for annaully. I each Auckland club having the right ! to challenge. The race is for 22-foot j Class Jj boats. H and I Classes, to start at. 2.3 S p.m.; course, from starting line, thence to Resolution buoy on port, thence to White Light on starboard, thence to Resolution buoy on starboard, finishing at. starting line.—Starlight, Starloch, scr; Celox, lm; Awatere. Spray, sm; Why Not, 14m. M Class, to start at 2.46 p.m.; course, from starting line, thence to Resolution buoy on port, thence to Sandspit on port, Finishing at starting line.—Mara tea, Mawhiti, Maroro, Manene, Maia, Ma tar ere, all scratch. V Class, to start at 2.40 p.m.; course, same as that for class M.—Drone, scr; I Surprise, lm; Wild Wave, 51m; Leverett. 8m; Scud. 31m. S Class, to start at 2.54 p.m.; course, from starting line, thence to mark east off western tide deflector, thence to Shoal Bay, thence to the Watchman mark, twice round, finishing at starting lino. The direction of the sailing may be altered at the discretion of the starter. A white flag will denote to start east, in which case all marks must be kept on port. Black flag, start west, all marks on starboard. —Mistral, scr; Sceptre. Sim; Rangitira, sm; Atangatai, 9m; Sea Sleigh, 10m. T and Y Classes, to start at 2.54 p.m.; course, same as S Class.—Opali, scr; Ramona, 2.tm; Linnet, 3im; Romp, 4Jm: Janet, 9m; Manu, 12m; Caprice 11., 16m; 0.1.. 20m. Hewson Memorial Cup ( Class), crews to be under 21 years; to start at 3 p.m.; course, same as S Class.—Joan, Ilona, Val, Rangi, all scr. Lipton Cup, to start at 3.10 p.m. For this event the course will be declared immediately prior to the start of the race. All craft arc requested to assemble and anchor off St. Mary’s jetty not later than 1.30 p.m. for ballast Inspection and instructions as to course, etc. The entries are: Kokiri, Victoria Cruising Club; Mowai, Ponsonby Cruising Club; Valeria, Akarana Yacht Club; Varuna, Manukau Cruising Club; Waima, Manukau Yacht and Motor-Boat Club; Rakoa, Dovonport Yacht Club; Venus, Takapuna Boating Club: Lucille, Tamaki Yacht Club; Marie, Point Chevalier Sailing Club. Fair play men change as follows: Rakoa with Lucille, Valeria with Marie, Kokiri with Varuna, Xlowai with Venus, Mowai with Waima. Boat owners are reminded that all sails must be carried and set in the orthodox manner, and must be set from below the masthead. Topsails, ringtails and watersails will not bo allowed. RESAIL ON MANUKAU To-morrow afternoon the Manukau Yacht and Motor-boat Club will hold -a resail of the race it had to abandon on April 6 through lack of wind.
