CHARGE OF BRIBERY

SYDNEY MAN ACQUITTED BANKNOTES FOR MINISTER SYDNEY, Wednesday. The trial was concluded to-day of Michael Fitzgibbons, omnibus proprietor, who was charged with attempting, on December 4, 1928, to bribe the late Mr. A. Bruntnell, Chief Secretary, New South Wales, who died on January 31. The jury stopped the case and brought in a verdict of not guilty and accused was discharged. The defence was that the money was a gift intended for the Nationalist Party’s funds and not for Mr. Bruntnell.
