His Excellency the Governor-Gen-•ral. accompanied by the Lady Alice Fergusson, will open the chrysanthemum show of the Auckland Horticultural Society at Newmarket this afternoon. On Sunday afternoon his Excellency will present new colours to the Auckland Regiment in the Domain. Sir George Elliot left for Wellington last evening by the Limited. Mr. C. J. Tunks returned to Auckland this morning, after a visit to Wellington. The Hon. A. J. Stall worthy reached Hamilton this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.Pi for Thames, is recovering satisfactorily after his recent operation. Lieutenant-Colonel F. Symon, director of artillery services, left Hamilton by the Limited for Wellington last evening. Mr. W. Casey, Divisional Superintendent, North Island Railways, returned to Auckland to-day after attending a conference in Wellington. Mr. TT. H. Robinson, of General Motors, Wellington, leaves this evening by the Limited after spending a row days in Auckland. He will return on Monday morning. Mr. Norman Burton has resigned from the standing committee of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland on account of 111-health. A resolution of regret was passed at a recent meeting of the committee. Brigadier H. R. Rotter, who has been Inspecting the 18th Battery now in camp at Arawa Park, Rotorua, was compelled to go into King George V. Hospital as the result of a chill received when at Waiuku. His condition is somewhat serious. Mr. G. W. Clinkard, the new secretary to the Administration of Samoa, left Auckland by the Maui Pomare on Monday. Mr. L. J. Schmitt, who occupied a similar position to that of Mr. Clinkard in the Department of Industries and Commerce, has also left his position.
