MANGERE EAST CROQUET

B GRADE PLAT ERS ENTERTAINED The Mange re East Croquet Club's lawns were the scene of a very enjoyable "At Home” yesterday afternoon, when the B grade players were the guests of the A grade members of the club. Mrs. E. H. Solomon, vicepresident. acted as hostess, and Mrs. W. W. Massey returned thanks on behalf of the B grade members. During the afternoon, a progressive croquet tournament was played. The A graders did not compete. The prize-winners were: Mrs. W. W. Massey, 1; Mrs. Richards, runner-up; Mrs. Keys, consolation. The afternoon tea tables were daintily decorated with autumn leaves and dahlias. The opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mrs. B. E. Ford, one of the foundation members of the club, who has taken up her residence in Auckland. After eulogising the good services rendered the club by Mrs. Ford, the hostess called on her to receive a handsome travelling rug as a slight token of the high esteem in which she is held by her fellow-members.
